For a very long time, "bird brain" has been used as an insult.
Which is a terrible insult to birds.
They navigate by magnetic fields. Build homes from spider silk. Have more neurons per gram than primates. The science that dismissed them took two centuries to correct itself. The grandmothers who sang about them never got it wrong.
This summer, EarthLab Club invites children who collect sounds, ask strange questions, sketch in margins, watch birds on wires, take things apart, listen closely, and imagine worlds that don't yet exist.
Observation meets invention. Old stories meet new science. Folklore meets paper engineering.

02 Paper Worlds Paper becomes motion, light, and surprise.
03 Sound and Interactive Worlds Observation becomes story. Story becomes sound & light.
04 Motion and Mechanisms Engineering disguised as play.
Between weekends, the work continues. Field journals, story-writing prompts, observation assignments, and exploratory materials travel home with every participant.

FIELD STATION
Sunday morningg we step outside before the city wakes up. Bird walks through Dehradun's forests and wetlands. Sound mapping. Field journaling. Learning to identify calls, track movement, and read the landscape. No screens. No rush. Just ears, eyes, and a notebook. Free and open to all.

Paper Worlds
Pop-ups that leap off the page. Volvelles that spin through bird life cycles. Paper circuits that glow. Lenticulars that shift. Tunnel books that pull you into forests. One material. Endless possibilities. You'll never look at a flat sheet the same way again.

Motion and Mechanisms
Cams that turn. Wings that flap. Beaks that open. Tails that bob. Build automata, articulated puppets, and mechanical birds from paper, wire, and cardboard. Understand how movement works by making things that move. Science you can touch. Engineering you can play with.

Sound and Interactive Worlds
Write the story. Build it into a tunnel book, a zine, or a diorama. Then give it a voice. Record, layer, mix. This is where everything made across the programme comes together for the final showcase.
