Membership

Earthlab Club is a small, membership-based studio for students aged 8–14 who enjoy building, experimenting, designing, and thinking deeply about ideas.

Rather than one-off workshops, the club provides continuity. Students return regularly, develop projects over time, and gradually build confidence with tools, materials, systems, and ideas.

Sessions take place across Earthlab’s working areas — Robotics, Science, Design & Media, and Storytelling & Culture — guided by mentors and visiting experts.

Between sessions, students can use Open Lab studio hours to continue projects, read, test ideas, or work independently.

The goal is simple: give children the time, space, and guidance to build, test, and improve their thinking through making.

How the Studio Week Works

Guided Sessions
Two-hour sessions led by mentors introduce ideas, tools, and problems to explore.

Open Lab
Supervised studio hours where students return to continue work, test ideas, read, and refine projects.

Open Lab is quiet working time. Students come with something they are building or exploring. (Note: advance booking required)

Who the Club Works Well For

Earthlab Club membership tends to resonate with children who enjoy:

• building and figuring out how things work
• experimenting and testing ideas
• drawing, designing, or writing about their thinking
• returning to improve something instead of abandoning it

If a child enjoys working this way, the studio usually feels like home very quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age group is the Earthlab Club Membership designed for?

Earthlab Club Membership is designed for students aged 8–17.

Does my child need prior experience in robotics, science, or design?

No. Sessions introduce ideas gradually while allowing curious students to extend their work further.

What happens during a typical session?

Mentors/Experts introduce an idea, tool, or problem. Students then build, experiment, design, or write while developing their projects.

What is Open Lab?

Open Lab is supervised studio time where students return to continue projects, test ideas, read, or refine their work.

Are tools and materials included in the membership?

Yes. Studio tools, materials, and components used in regular sessions are provided. There are no hidden material costs.

What happens if a student misses a session?

Sessions follow a monthly rhythm and are not carried forward. Students can often continue their work during Open Lab time.

How many students are there in the studio?

Earthlab begins with a maximum of about 20 students, so the environment remains focused and mentors can guide students closely.

Is Earthlab similar to a robotics or coding class?

No. Robotics and science are part of the studio, but students also explore design, storytelling, and experimentation across different fields.

Will students work on their own projects?

Often, yes. Students gradually begin shaping their own projects and improving them over multiple sessions.

Can parents visit the studio before joining?

Yes. Parents are welcome to visit the studio by appointment.

Is Earthlab suitable for children who prefer step-by-step instruction?

Earthlab works best for students who enjoy exploring ideas, testing things, and improving their work over time.
