SET PRODUCTION LAB WITH PRATIKSHA CHAUHAN

The Set Production Lab translated ideas into physical space.

Participants worked with everyday materials — cardboard, newspapers, bottles, plaster, and fabric — to build structures, textures, and environments that formed the physical world of Yaksha.

Under the guidance of Pratiksha Chauhan, students explored how materials behave — how they hold weight, how they connect, and how they transform through layering and assembly.

The process was hands-on and iterative. Structures were built, adjusted, reinforced, and sometimes rebuilt entirely. Surfaces were shaped to create depth and texture. Forms evolved as students worked with the material rather than against it.

A strong emphasis on reuse and sustainability shaped the approach. What might be considered waste became the foundation for immersive environments.

By the end, these materials came together to form spaces that could be entered, explored, and experienced — completing the transition from idea to environment.
