Frames to Motion: An Animation Workshop

Frames to Motion is an animation workshop where children explore how movement, timing, and sequence transform static visuals into dynamic narratives.
Led by Ansh Kumar, this session begins with analogue animation through flipbooks and progresses into digital sketching using iPads and stylus tools. Participants learn how small changes between frames create the illusion of motion.
Children experiment with pacing, repetition, and variation, understanding how rhythm affects perception. As they move from paper to screen, they begin to see how digital tools expand possibilities for animation and iteration.
The workshop focuses on thinking in time — how ideas unfold, how transitions work, and how visual continuity builds narrative flow.
What children explore:
• Frame-by-frame animation using flipbooks
• Timing, rhythm, and motion
• Digital sketching using iPad and stylus
• Translating static drawings into movement
• Narrative flow through sequencing
