Print, Pattern, Repeat is a material-first design workshop where children explore how visuals are constructed through colour, repetition, and surface.
Led by Ansh Kumar, this session introduces participants to the fundamentals of screen printing using glass screens, gum sheets, and primary inks. Children work with red, yellow, and blue to understand how colour mixing, layering, and overlap create depth and variation.
The workshop moves beyond technique into thinking. Participants begin to observe how patterns emerge through repetition, how alignment and misalignment affect composition, and how texture and pressure influence the final output.
Through iterative printing, children translate simple ideas into structured visual systems. They learn that design is not just about making something look good, but about building logic through material.
What children explore:
• Screen printing techniques using manual tools
• Colour mixing using primary inks
• Pattern building through repetition
• Surface, texture, and layering
• Translating simple ideas into visual systems
