Idea to Frame is the first part of a two-day mobile filmmaking workshop where children explore how stories are shaped before they are filmed.
Led by Akshita Vohra along with a team of facilitators, this session introduces participants to the fundamentals of visual storytelling — how ideas become structured narratives and how those narratives are translated into visual plans.
The workshop begins with a practical introduction to filmmaking basics, including framing, shot types, and visual composition. Participants are then guided into developing their own short film ideas based on a shared theme.
Working in small teams, children take on roles such as story lead, camera lead, and performance lead. They develop their concepts into complete narratives, thinking through character, conflict, and resolution.
The session culminates in detailed storyboarding, where participants map out each shot of their film. By the end of the workshop, every group has a clear, structured visual plan ready for production.
This workshop focuses on clarity of thought — helping children understand that strong films begin with strong ideas and planning.
What children do:
• Learn basics of framing and visual storytelling
• Develop short film concepts in teams
• Build narrative structure (beginning, middle, end)
• Create detailed storyboards
• Assign roles within a film crew
