Design at Earthlab focuses on structure, material, and visual thinking.

Students build, prototype, and work across formats — from objects to immersive environments — understanding how ideas take form.

Things students have explored:

• mask making and material exploration

• zine creation and visual storytelling

• woodworking and object making

• tessellations and pattern systems

• spatial and installation-based design

• immersive and projection-based environments

Working with Material and Form

Students work directly with materials — paper, wood, fabric, and found objects — to understand structure, balance, and form. Ideas move from sketch to object, often expanding into larger visual or spatial compositions.
